I sent an email to a company in LA, and they asked me to visit them with their team at their office in downtown LA. I don't know -yet- if I can go there, but I will ask them questions via e-mail. The company is working on building up businesses and they are helping entrepreneurs. Before I go there I want to find good questions, and therefor I have to do some research before meeting with them. When building up a business there are many artifacts that we don't necessarily think about. Building up a business is about marketing, networking and selling an idea to for example investors, there are so many things that comes with it. They also have to write strict contracts and work with legal issues as well.
When their company is being hired in, it is most likely for a job as a consultant for a business-startup. They coach people in the business about networketing and marketing. When they collect data from the different companies they can make a marketing plan and for example tell how a business can have a increase of 10% over the next 6 months and how to do it step by step.
Business consultant can help in many ways and some of it is online, which is perfect for someone who lives far away and want help from the very best. This can be for all kinds of businesses, fashion, stock marketing, industrial, and so on. The businesses who gives out their information and datas regarding their company needs to feel safe and the coaching company write confidential contracts with their costumers.
When looking at artefacts we have to look at the culture. The questions I want to find more about is these:
- What are their typical way of working (their culture)?
- How does the treatment of the informations and their technology change in the way the culture operate? For example how they can work from far away using the internet and coaching from there.
- What objects are frequently used for coaching and marketing?
What I think is that when you work with business development there is much more to it than just coaching and "video-chatting" online. I think there is a lot of writing and analyzing making sure that they help out the businesses as good as they can.
