Artifacts

I sent an email to a company in LA, and they asked me to visit them with their team at their office in downtown LA. I don't know -yet- if I can go there, but I will ask them questions via e-mail. The company is working on building up businesses and they are helping entrepreneurs. Before I go there I want to find good questions, and therefor I have to do some research before meeting with them. When building up a business there are many artifacts that we don't necessarily think about.  Building up a business is about marketing, networking and selling an idea to for example investors, there are so many things that comes with it. They also have to write strict contracts and work with legal issues as well.

When their company is being hired in, it is most likely for a job as a consultant for a business-startup. They coach people in the business about networketing and marketing. When they collect data from the different companies they can make a marketing plan and for example tell how a business can have a increase of 10% over the next 6 months and how to do it step by step.

Business consultant can help in many ways and some of it is online, which is perfect for someone who lives far away and want help from the very best. This can be for all kinds of businesses, fashion, stock marketing, industrial, and so on. The businesses who gives out their information and datas regarding their company needs to feel safe and the coaching company write confidential contracts with their costumers.

When looking at artefacts we have to look at the culture. The questions I want to find more about is these:

- What are their typical way of working (their culture)?
- How does the treatment of the informations and their technology change in the way the culture operate? For example how they can work from far away using the internet and coaching from there.
- What objects are frequently used for coaching and marketing?

Some of the artifacts I can look at are their Facebook page, their instagram account, their community group on FB and how they actually do the online coaching. Other artifacts are written analyses like marketing plans and contracts between the companies.

What I think is that when you work with business development there is much more to it than just coaching and "video-chatting" online. I think there is a lot of writing and analyzing making sure that they help out the businesses as good as they can.

When writing an e-mail

Hey all writ310'ers!

So this weeks assignment was about writing e-mails and how formal you should be. I think it was interesting to see how different texts can be and how different the "feeling" in an e-mail can be. When you send a mail to a professor it should be formal and there are many ways of making it look professional. You have to think about the length of the text, if what you are writing is informative and necessary to put in the text. I know that I sometimes write my emails too short and I will definitely start working on being more proffesional in my e-mails to my teachers!

Hope you are ready for a new week!

Academic writing, let's do this!

Hi all! <3

I hope you had a good week and that you are ready for a new one! I'm looking forward and got to tell you I love the school so far. So who am I? I am a girl from Norway, I grew up with the polar circle as my nearest neighbour, 71° north in a small fisher village called Gamvik.  The last six years I have been living in Oslo where I have done all sorts of crazy stuff. From being a fashion store manager, dancer and a fire spitter. I wanted to be a dancer so I went to an audition in 2009, and I got in to a dance academy in Oslo. I do ballet, jazz and contemporary. I can't live without dance; it feeds my soul. I am a business major in Antioch and my dream is to help business develop or start my own company. I guess I don't know what the future holds, just yet. As a person I am deeply caring and I'm definitely a people pleaser. I keep my promises and I am someone you can count on. I have a brother and i big sister, they are my best friends  and I miss them so much.

I just read the articles for this week and I enjoyed the texts a lot. Especially the one about genres, I find it interesting how you can write about something and use genres to describe it in so many different ways.  The genres defines your text and your text will attract different kind of readers depending on your genre. What I loved reading about was the rhetoric part, I think being a good speaker is important to reach out to more people.

PS. When Zack told us to make a blog I was like "another one, oh ohnooo!" Haha, this means I have another blog, if you want, have a look on it! It's in Norwegian and it's called Californialiving.blogg.no - California is like porn for people in scandinavia, I'm telling you!
